Since opening in 2015, Zaap Thai quickly became one of Leeds’ hottest spots. As a go-to for a social lunch or a special evening, the restaurant remains as popular today as it was 8 years ago. So much so that the original Leeds city centre Zaap has spread its excellence to Headingley, York, Sheffield, Newcastle and Nottingham.

The reason for its success is immediately evident at every branch. There is a bright vibrancy in the aesthetics which creates a fun and friendly atmosphere throughout. The concept is of Thai street food and this is replicated in the surroundings, with colourful scenes of Bangkok to immerse in the experience. It’s the perfect vibe for a meet up with friends, a working lunch, a date night or a family outing.

Whilst the setting is pleasingly playful, the food is to be taken seriously. It is equally full of life, bursting with authentic flavours and spices, and with a variety for all tastes. There’s a vast vegetarian and vegan selection, from Tom Yum mushroom soup through Som Tum Thai papaya salad to Pad Thai tofu. There are spicy traditional dishes such as Pad Ga Prao and Guay Tiew. And there is mellow magnificence in the Dim Sum, Bao Buns, Pad Mee and more.

Indeed, as much as the adults and the aficionados are delighted by Zaap Thai, families with children should make this their go-to place to please everyone too. A recent visit to Headingley confirmed that to be true. The welcome is warm and inclusive, the colourful decor entertains, complete with tuk tuk’s to sit in and bring the scene to life. And the extensive menu with accurate spicing levels on the menu means there’s something for everyone of every age to enjoy here.

Zaap is an experience to immerse in, whatever your reason to visit. For the fabulous food, the fun surroundings and the friendly service. There are plans to expand elsewhere too, making this magical meal out even more convenient.  Whichever Zaap you’re going to, we’ll happily see you there.
