It’s New Year’s Eve and you’re eager to sip some cocktails. The bars and streets of the city are full with those celebrating another lap around the sun, but where are you headed? This is certainly a question you want to have figured out in advance… Here is a considered guide for where to find some top drawer mixology this New Years. Whether you’re visiting or local these are some of the best spots to sip in the Leeds City centre.

The past year has seen some new arrivals on the cocktail scene in the city, providing a vibrancy and energy to different pockets of the city centre. Over on Wellington Street, Green Room has built itself a fine reputation since it opened towards the beginning of the year. Their choice in sound and decor creates an excellent ambience which has helped it to become one of the most popular bars in the city. Their cocktail menu covers all the classics with a few winter specials on top that may tickle your fancy.

Upper Briggate is home to the new and aptly named Delirium & Revelry. They tout their mission as ‘An ongoing study of libation and guilty pleasures…’ which is presented through the mediums of inventive cocktails, eclectic music and a special secret room. If you like luxury, then this could be the place for you.

There are some trusty Leeds staples that are experts in supplying a great New Year’s Eve vibe. The legendary Call Lane is home to bars like Call Lane Social, Roland’s, Power, Corruption & Lies and Tiki Hideaway. All of these are well established spots and will no doubt be heaving on the 31st. If you want a real party atmosphere, Call lane is the one for you. Cocktail wise, all 4 will have you covered on all the classics, with Roland’s and PCL certainly being able to supply some more adventurous mix ups too.

Merrion Street is another well known path for partying. There’s a great selection of establishments but our pick of the bunch would have to be the legendary MOJO. Eschewing the likes of house and techno, their soundtrack focuses only on indie, rock and the likes, providing the perfect alternative dancefloor if that’s your flavour. They also have the biggest cocktail menu of all the bars mentioned demonstrating their pedigree of hospitality.

Finally if you’re looking for alternative stimulation alongside your New Years night out, look no further than Pixel Bar. Pixel is the only place to find the perfect video game accompaniment to play whilst sipping a top tier cocktail. They have a vast range of drinks and games to choose from creating an immensely fun experience for all.
