Chu’s Floral

Award winning florist Chu Chen started out operating from a market stall but after the huge success there, she opened her first store on Great George Street. At Chu’s there is a bouquet for every occasion, Chu adds her unique style into every project creating one of a kind floral arrangements. 

TOM-O

Based within the eclectic Corn Exchange in Leeds City centre, Tom-O creates sustainable bespoke patchwork fashion. Owner, Sarah Thompson grew up on a farm in the North West but discovered fashion design was her true passion and studied at Shefield Halam. It was there she created her graduate collection ‘The Farming People’ made up of patchwork from old farmers clothing. Her unique style and passion for repurposing old fabric led to Tom-O, where you can order a made to order, patchwork piece made from either deadstock or you can incorporate your own old materials for a sentimental touch. 

Sift

Sift Cafe and Bakery in Otley is a 100% vegetarian and vegan cafe. Although the menu is small, each item is packed full of nutrients and flavour, one standout is the vegan peanut butter and jam toastie made on white sourdough, layered with fresh raspberry compote, caramelised peanuts and finished with a dusting of icing sugar.

Scoffs<

Scoffs is women owned, family run and entirely plantbased! Mum and Daughter duo Tracy and Ria founded Scoffs after being disappointed by the lack of good vegan food on offer. In the Horsforth store you can get a delicious full english breakfast, classic burgers, hot dogs and lots more. Scoffs has also made traditional Northern favourites vegan for their ‘take home for tea’ range, including pie mash and peas, cottage pie and the iconic scoffed roll. 

The Pink Room

Also within the Corn Exchange, The Pink Room is a female empowerment studio that does absolutely everything. Here you can get a range of therapies such as holistic massages, ayurvedic yoga massages, facials,tarot readings and reiki. The focus is all about women wellness, all of the team are fully qualified holistic practitioners that want nothing but an endearing, empowering experience for you. The Pink Room also stocks products from other independent brands including natural period products, aromatherapy oils and candles, herbal tea and crystals. 

Fabrication Crafts

Fabrication is a craft store on Albion Street in the city centre, here you will find an array of skillful woodwork such as carved garlic presses, decorative frogs or a wooden rose encased in a glass dome to live out your beauty and the beast fantasy. Find one of a kind jewellery pieces or have a go at creatine in their in store ad hoc creative space.

Maureen’s Caribbean

Maureen’s cooking story began as a child, inspired by her mothers cooking she started to cater for her local community, firstly at a youth centre followed by many different community centres around Leeds. Maureen’s cooking spoke for itself and word of her delicious and authentic Caribbean food spread, attracting footballer Rio Ferdinand. After this Maureen set up roots on Roundhay Road where she has continued to excel and has won awards for her craft. 

The Plant Point 

With three locations in and around Leeds The Plant Point is selling unique and difficult to source plants. Started by sisters Sonia and Ada who share a passion for plants and plant care, the sisters want to support you through your plant journey and share their years of expertise to ensure your plant thrives at home. For a unique gift or decor try one of their moss frames, a wooden frame encasing lots of different textures and shades of green moss. 

Koncept 

A hub of creativity, Koncept is a multi-functional space for independent beauty therapists to display their craft. Some services available include barbering, full body massages, facials, makeup, waxing and nails. Each business within Koncept is entirely independent but the studio runs as a whole operating under the ethos of self care, prioritising mental and physical well being but using aesthetic treatments as a vessel to implement this. 

Flavour Like Fancy

Promising fun, modern, indie gifts Flavour like fancy definitely delivers. Jewellery maker Tasha Grants started Flavour like Fancy as part of an initiative to support Northern independent creatives. The shop in Meanwood stocks the best of the best, get a print from Abbi at Lemon & Sugar prints or some fun jewellery from Fran at Shimmy Shimmy Yay. 

Roller Girl Gang

Roller Girl Gang started after owners Karen, Ronke, Jen and Melissa bonded over their passion for roller skating and opened this space to spread that love. Roller Skating can improve your athletic ability and overall confidence but is also a fun activity to melt away the stress of daily life and improve general mental wellbeing. The team at Roller Girl gang have created a supportive and inclusive space to get your skating essentials and even learn to skate!

>Tandem

In Meanwood, Tandem is a one stop shop. Hannah and Hatty share a love of interior design, leading to the opening of Tandem where you can find homeware, gifts. Plants, mid-century restored furniture and there’s even a refill station. Tandem was started with the intention of bringing variety to the Meanwood high street, they have definitely succeeded because not only do they stock the above but inside there is a dog-friendly cafe serving fresh, homemade baked goods and coffee 

Nora’s

With over a decade at the Ilkley store, owner Victoria has a number of awards under her belt. This gift store is run with the mindset of product passion over product profit, meaning you can be sure you’re purchasing a quality product with Victoria’s stamp of approval. Over 90% of the items here are made by British creators and the colourful store will awaken all of your senses. If all of this wasn’t enough, there is a beautiful store dog named Oskar that could be there when you visit.

This lifestyle and design store is in Chapel Allerton, where they sell all the home goods you could need such as recycled throw blankets, ceramic vases or colourful tufted pillows. There is also a creative space upstairs from which owner Jo runs creative and craft workshops, she even hosts creative parties upstairs for a unique way to gather and celebrate.
