Leeds is home to an abundance of amazing independent businesses and a positive culture that supports the success of local brands and people. The city centre is the heart of the diverse independent scene and you will be able to find everything your heart desires from a local source. The variety of indie businesses continues to grow as new businesses continue to set up shop in the city.

We’ve been keeping an eye out to make sure we miss nothing and have found some amazing newly opened businesses that you need to check out next time you find yourself in the city centre…

The Cheesy Living Co

If you’re a cheese lover, prepare to experience a cheesy heaven on earth at The Cheesy Living Co which has recently opened its doors in the Leeds Corn Exchange. A passion for good, honest food and all things cheese and charcuterie manifested into this much loved dining experience. Enjoy an evening of fun and delicious British produce by attending their Fondue Thursdays in October or their fine dining night to experience flavours of the orient. But make sure you’re quick to book as there is a limited amount of spaces available.

The Meanwood Tavern

Opening soon in the suburb of Meanwood is the exciting new independent pub, The Meanwood Tavern. You, your family and your dogs will feel welcomed by the friendly team who are committed to giving the local community a top notch experience. Owned by the people of infamous city centre pub, Whitelock’s, there will be a wide variety of drinks on offer with a range of keg and cask real ales served across 14 keg taps and 6 hand-pulls. Premium spirits as well as low alcohol, no alcohol and gluten-free options are also available. If you’re feeling peckish indulge in a slice of delicious Detroit Style Pizza which goes perfectly with a cold refreshing pint.

Pinnacle Beer & Gin Hall

upon the city. Get your pool fix by relaxing and playing a game with your mates on one of their seven pool tables, then enjoy the tasty comfort food available from their kitchen such as their hand-stretched pizza.

Kino

The heart of Leeds’ cultural scene is home to many amazing independent food brands and businesses that are loved by locals and visitors alike. Kino recently opened in September and they are an independent restaurant housed in a newly renovated Grade II list building found along New Briggate. Their menu is made up of the best locally sourced, fresh and high quality ingredients from independent and local suppliers. Currently taking up residency until new years in their kitchen is the award-winning MorMor who create mouthwatering cuisines inspired by Mediterranean, North African and Middle Eastern flavours.

Pollini’s Pizza Slice

After seeing success in Halifax, Pollini’s Pizza Slice took on the project of expanding and finding a new home in the heart of Leeds’ Kirkgate Market. Freshly made dough smothered in their special tomato sauce and 100% mozzarella cheese, with extra toppings available, makes Pollini’s slices hard to resist. Indulge in their pizza on location or order for delivery to enjoy from the comfort of your own home.
