Started by a couple of psychology students after they researched the positive effects of having a pet, it’s the perfect combination of self-care and exercise. Classes are 1 hour and 20 minutes, split with 15 minutes of puppy playtime to begin followed by 45 minutes of light yoga to relax and unwind. At the end of each session there is 20 minutes for you to chill, play and take pictures with the puppy’s. Although the dogs are not directly involved throughout the yoga practice they are left free to roam during the session. If the delicacies of puppy yoga aren’t your thing, try a full 360 and have a go at mixed martial arts and spartan style training. Leeds Cage is the biggest martial arts arena in Yorkshire and they take their business seriously, martial arts requires serious commitment and determination. After learning the basics you will be expected to spar in the cage, carefully monitored by senior grade teachers and even have the opportunity to be a part of their fight team. TrailBlazer fitness
TrailBlazer has both indoor and outdoor classes available. With an ethos based on making fitness fun and friendly, It’s a perfect way to ease into exercise. For the full experience try one of their outdoor bootcamps in Bramley, each session begins with a stretch and warm up to get heart-rates going followed by a mix of running, team games, boxing, HIIT and bodyweight exercises. HIIT classes at gravity fitness
As if high intensity interval training wasn’t already hard enough, you can now do it in the air. At indoor trampoline park Gravity you can partake in a 45 minute Instructor led HIIT session for £5 or purchase a 12 pack class for £36. It promises to be a heart-racing, blood pumping workout that will burn over 600 calories and the sessions have been designed to improve individual cardiac and oxygen capacity. Sessions take place every Monday on Cardigan Fields retail park, make sure to arrive early to fill out safety forms and receive the full safety instructions, grip socks are also compulsory but you can buy some there for £3.
City Bloc.
City Bloc is a large indoor rock climbing space packed with industry leading equipment and facilities, even Team GB athletes train there. Don’t let that scare you though at City Bloc, beginners, experts and children are encouraged to partake. As a beginner you will be asked to complete an online induction before even entering the space to complete an in-person one. Once you and your instructor are happy you’re free to climb, like aerial yoga indoor climbing builds mental and physical strength. To get around the climbing frame you have to analyse possible routes and determine outcomes, whilst holding yourself up on half of a rock. A session here will cost you between £6 and £9 depending on what time of day you go and your membership status.
