As spring breathes new life into Leeds, it’s the perfect time to explore the city’s scenic walks. There’s nothing better than a spring walk that offers the opportunity to relax and refuel with a treat at the end. Here are some of our favourite spots for spring walks in and around Leeds that offer the added treat of a café, pub, or ice cream along the way:
Roundhay Park is one of the largest city parks in Europe, ranging over 700 acres of parkland, lakes, and woodland for you to stroll through and explore. You can adventure along the family friendly children’s adventure trail, or if you are a fan of art why not explore the park’s sculpture trail? A leisurely stroll around Waterloo Lake is best when followed by a visit to the Lakeside Café, where you can enjoy a warm beverage or a light meal while overlooking the serene waters.

Golden Acre Park offers 179 acres of mature woodland and gardens surrounding a beautiful lake, perfect for a leisurely spring walk. Explore the park’s picturesque trails and if you begin to feel peckish, head over to the park cafe where you can indulge in a tasty cream tea or refreshingly delicious ice cream.
The 7-mile Meanwood Valley trail stretches from Woodhouse Moor to Golden Acre Park, offering a blend of urban and rural landscapes. Along the way, consider stopping at The Chemic Tavern, a characterful pub located on nearby Woodhouse Street, perfect for a mid-walk refreshment. If you love live music, you are in luck as this charming pub is renowned for live music of all genres. If you need a refreshment when the walk draws to an end at Golden Acre Park, why not pop into the park’s cafe as mentioned above.
If you’re searching for a family-friendly stroll, Yeadon Tarn features a flat path around the water, opportunities to feed the ducks, and a children’s play area. If you or the little ones crave something sweet during your family adventure, an ice cream van is often stationed here, providing a yummy treat to enjoy during your walk. Close by there are also a variety of cafes and pubs such as the old style chippy, The Little Fisherman or The White Swan which offers a stunning beer garden for parents to unwind with a pint in the spring sunshine.
Explore the expansive grounds of Harewood House, which include walking trails through gardens and woodlands. There are over 140 acres of gardens and woodlands to explore, with vibrant flowers, fruit and vegetable gardens to wander through. The on-site food and drink offering includes the Courtyard Cafe, Bothy Teahouse and the Terrace Cafe with a range of refreshments to enjoy after your walk.
