Highlighting Tommy Banks’ ethos of ‘field to fork’.

Placemaking Objective

We worked closely with Rachel Smith, PR and Marketing Manager, across a couple of projects. The first was to scope out a piece for our first ‘Yes Chef’ feature in our magazine with Tommy Banks with the objective to bring out his personal story. The second was a film assignment (The Black Swan at Oldstead x Roots) which followed the brief of highlighting the crucial link between the Kitchen Gardens and the growers at the Black Swan, to provide the produce that make that all important local taste difference to their award winning menus.

Impact

The client was delighted with the outcome delivering to the brief and shared all stages and the final film across all channels.

“Independent Life creates a space for independents to work together, meaning they can take their brand to another level. Here at Roots and The Black Swan Oldstead it’s given us a platform to reach a wider audience of like-minded people who want to support their local independents, and they do it in such a friendly and approachable way. With such a lovely team it made us feel like we had gained a new friendship group rather than ‘business connections’.”

Our Approach

MET with the PR & Marketing Manager and agreed that there was a good fit and identified the magazine and film/social as the best projects to start with.

SCOPED OUT the magazine feature and arranged to get a personal interview with Tommy Banks to ensure the feature was authentic.

PLANNED the film carefully in advance. It involved the Kitchen Gardens and The Black Swan at Oldstead along with Roots in York so it required thorough story board planning. It also needed rigorous scheduling as it involved multiple people as well as split locations.
