Being just 5 miles from the centre of Leeds, this historical market town is a lesser-known treasure amongst the suburbs of Leeds. Its streets are lined with beautiful Victorian buildings as well as a Grade 2 listed town hall that holds its own traditional concert hall (You may recognise it as the courthouse from Emmerdale!). Made famous originally for its textile production, Morley is now a bustling town that possesses all the attributes to guarantee you enjoy a great day out.

Thanks to the magnificent collaboration of a number of local volunteers, Morley has its own miniature locomotive in the form of ‘Churwell Woodland Railway’. As an effort to maintain and restore Clark Springs and Jappa & Daffil Woods for the use of the public, an inspired team of volunteers set about creating the track that runs through the heart of the woods. What better way to enjoy the local scenery of Leeds than on the back of a miniature train? Follow the postcode LS277UQ to arrive at the station and make sure to check the booking procedures on the Churwell Woodland Railway website!

On South Queen Street in the centre of Morley is the ever-so-charming tearoom of Good Stuff. An appropriately named café, this friendly, family run business serves a selection of scrumptious bakes and hot drinks. With authentic British tea room décor and friendly staff that are happy to chat, this is a welcoming place to visit for a sweet treat or a winter warmer. Their freshly made sandwiches are favourites of the locals so we’d definitely recommend you try them!

A hidden treasure in this South Leeds market town, Beer Thirty is a certified gem. Tucked away in City Mills, Beer Thirty is an independent bottle shop that source all kinds of wonderful ales available to buy both in store and online. The shop is cosy and quaint and has a hand pull tap for you to enjoy a quiet tipple whilst you browse the beverages. For those of you that love craft beer, this place is Morley’s best kept secret. The staff will be more than willing to help you find the perfect drink amongst their vast range of independently brewed ales.

If you’re visiting Morley for its vibrant nightlife, Palaco is one of the local’s favourite spots for Tapas and a lovely spot to enjoy a pint or two. They serve incredible tapas dishes and create a warm welcoming environment making it a popular spot on an evening. Palaco offer the opportunity for you to dine in and enjoy the full tapas experience or nibble small plates and indulge yourself in the drinks from the bar.

Another hot spot for enjoying an evening tipple is Prospect bar on Queen Street. This proudly independent bar pours the best beer from the local breweries nearby and are deeply knowledgeable about the ales they serve. The drinks options are always rotating and keep you wanting to come back to taste the next small batch brew. As well as excellent beer, they have a hearty food menu and even offer bottomless bunch. Keep an eye on their social for their ever-changing menus and beer choices!
