Thwaite Mills Watermill

Discover the importance of water power to our industrial heritage at one of the last working water-powered mills in Britain.
Group 3 Copy 2 0113 3782983

Sitting on the outskirts of the city, Thwaite Mills Watermill is a hidden treasure amongst the hustle and bustle of Leeds. Come and wander through our magical woodland trails, get close to nature by the canal and step back in time to see what life was really like living on the island and working at the mill.

Discover the inner workings of our two large wooden water wheels, check out the engineers’ workshop and take a wander through Thwaite House, a Georgian Grade II listed building now restored to its full former glory.

Thwaite Mills is open to the public on weekends and during Leeds LEA school holidays from Tuesday to Friday plus Bank holiday Mondays. The rest of the year we are open to pre-booked schools and groups, meetings and events so if you would like to book a guided tour for your group, or an unusual space for a meeting or event please get in contact with us.
