CityConnect Superhighway Section Opening
Coincidence or planned out? We aren’t so sure but a new section of the Leeds Bradford CityConnect Superhighway system opened on Saturday the 25th May. This means that the CityConnect network now stretches from Seacroft, passing through Leeds, Armley, Bramley and Pudsey before making it all the way through to Bradford and onto Shipley – just in time for World Bicycle Day. The CityConnect group had reported record usage figures for the last year, with that expected to rise following the new expansion. The Superhighway is safe, reasonably flat and is exclusive for cyclists only – making use of a cycle lane has never been easier. What a fitting way to start off the day than to get the kids, pack a picnic and get out in the open and ride along the City Connect Superhighway.
You can find out more about CityConnect and the routes along the cycle way system by heading to their website here.
Ride and Dine at a Cycling Café/Pub
If you were under the impression that cycling was all about cycling, then you would be sorely mistaken. More and more cycling cafes and pubs around the city have been opening their doors, and kitchens to accommodate the appetites of hungry cyclists. Cycling cafés often serve homely favourites, pies, soups and homemade cakes, to fuel up cyclists as they make their way around the regions many cycle routes. We recommend getting the bikes out of the garage, dust off a few cobwebs and get the family to a cycling eatery for some homemade delicacies. We highly recommend the Opposite Café, near the universities!
